The National Labor Observatory (NLO) organized a virtual workshop titled: "Promising Opportunities for Employment in Digital Transformation Projects."
The workshop took place on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, with the participation of several leaders, specialists, and those interested in the labor market.
The Observatory hosted Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Khudair, an advisor in information technology and digital transformation, to enrich the workshop with his extensive experience of over 15 years.
During the workshop, Dr. Al-Khudair reviewed a number of key topics, including the importance of digital transformation in all aspects, including the labor market.
He also discussed the concept of digital transformation and its impact on the nature of work, as well as the potential positive and negative effects on society.
In addition, he addressed the changes that may occur in professions and the expected growth in jobs and productivity.
The advisor emphasized the importance of digital transformation in developing the labor market by reducing the requirements of in-person work and changing traditional work patterns. This contributes to significant cost savings and facilitates employee recruitment.
Furthermore, the transformation will reduce reliance on traditional jobs by creating new, high-quality professions and technologies capable of
raising performance and productivity levels.
The guest speaker emphasized the importance of refining existing skills and acquiring new skills that keep pace with emerging technologies,
resulting from the adoption of digital transformation. This leads to increased employment opportunities, in addition to the importance of investing in essential skills from the early stages.
During the workshop, Al-Khudair addressed the overall landscape of digital transformation projects in the Kingdom, job opportunities within these projects,
the most prominent solutions and challenges they face, and the future of digital transformation projects. The guest speaker also noted the
high level of government spending on communications and information technology services, with Saudi Arabia ranking
first globally.
It is worth noting that the National Labor Observatory hosts a select group of specialists and consultants in fields related to the labor market through its "Guest of the Observatory" initiative. In its first meeting of the year, the Observatory hosted Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Khudair, who holds a PhD in Computer Science from Cardiff University, UK. He has also served as a general supervisor and consultant on numerous digital transformation projects in both the public and private sectors.
