The study reviews the crucial role that technology and innovation play in creating sustainable value, and thus an increase in new jobs. In addition, it has a significant role in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions in absolute numbers. This study analyzes the relationship between the digital innovation ecosystem through the concept of digital technology readiness at work and the creation of environmental value. The results of the study show that:Gross domestic production (DLNGDPG) and individual Internet access that represents digital technology readiness are highly correlated with job creation.Digital technology readiness affects environmental value creation in terms of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increasing renewable energy consumption except for gross fixed capital that has a negative relationship with long-term renewable energy consumption.Digital readiness does not mean a short-term labor market. Meanwhile, access to the Internet only has implications for Saudi Arabia's greenhouse gas emissions in the short term.Adult education and domestic credit to the private sector have a positive impact on renewable energy consumption but not total fixed capital. The study recommends that policymakers:Increase investment in ICT.Review and modify adult education curricula to meet labor markets in the digital age.Submit more initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage renewable energy consumption at all micro and macro levels in the economy of Saudi Arabia.
The importance of the study follows the aftermath of the outbreak of Covid 19. The world has moved significantly towards new technologies, which has accelerated digital transformation, and increased the importance of digital technologies and communications infrastructure in the daily lives of individuals, especially in the performance of their work tasks. The results of the study indicated a positive and significant impact of mobile subscription and branding application on employment in the industrial sector of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This also revealed a moderate adjustment speed towards long-term equilibrium. While for developed countries, the results highlighted a positive and significant impact of ICT technologies on total employment and employment in the industrial sector.
